Description

I love dogs and am interested in a workaway placement where I can help at a rescue farm or centre.
I have been working at a large rescue charity in England for over 5 years so I am used to very hard work in bad weather and understand the emotional resilience required although I will not lie and admit that the work can sometimes be distressing.
It is, however, worth every moment and my love and passion for these amazing and beautiful animals surpasses anything.
I feel that my experience might be useful for a host who is looking for a dedicated and passionate dog lover.
I have always had my own dogs and currently have a Border Collie and an elderly Lurcher. My husband looks after them while I am working.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am currently working at a large dog rescue and rehoming charity and have been for over 5 years. I am very fit and usually cover at least 10 miles a day walking the dogs as well as cleaning kennels, feeding and giving medication. I am in a supervisory position so am able to help and support others to do their job well. I also take dogs to the vets when required- some dogs are ok with this whereas others need a little restraint and / or treats to help them. Assessing dogs is a regular practice to see if we can take them in and whether they will cope in kennels. The best part is finding them their forever homes, conducting the meets and organising the necessary details and ensuring a smooth transition to their new family. I love my job but feel as if I could make a real difference working abroad where the facilities are not quite as good and where my skills and experience could help significantly.
