Description

Hello! I’m Chiara, passionate about climate change solutions and environmental preservation. For the past few years I’ve been involved in climate tech, working to reduce the environmental impact of heavy industrial processes. Lately I’ve become really interested in the interconnected roles of agriculture, wildlife, community and climate: how do we feed everyone with healthy food without destroying the planet and our wildlife? How can we help re-establish depleted ecosystems? How do we build thriving communities in harmony with nature? I’m keen to see first hand some of the ways that different creative folks are tackling these questions, and I’m excited to help out and become a part of it!

I’m also really keen to learn more about carpentry and construction! Particularly interested in eco buildings and/or using alternative materials (like hemp), but excited to learn all kinds of constructions skills (I’m hoping to build a house myself one day).

A few last things: I’m from Italy but I’ve spent the past 10 years in the UK. I love spending time outdoors, making things with my hands, and finding new communities :) Sometimes I like to play the drums but I'm not that good at it... I would say I'm somewhere in the middle on the introvert-extrovert spectrum: I love being around new people but also cherish having regular time to myself (which might just mean going on a long walk by myself)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Gardening
I love plants, so I’m excited to help out in gardens/fields/forests! I don’t have a huge amount of experience, though I am an excellent weed-puller… In the past few years I have grown tomatoes, peppers and courgettes as best I could in my small balcony (with varying degrees of success…). I’ve also recently started volunteering in my local community garden!
I’m particularly keen to learn more about different sustainable/regenerative agriculture strategies, but happy to help out on projects big and small :)

Carpentry
I used to be part of the Scenery&Construction team in a youth theatre, so as part of that I spent some time building sets for theatre. This was pretty basic “plan, measure, cut and screw together” carpentry (no fancy joints), and it was some time ago, so I would not feel comfortable leading a project myself, but I can definitely help out on one!

Art projects
I do like to get involved in art projects from time to time! I’ve participated in film shoots, theatre productions, performance art pieces, and decorations for co-created events. I’m always happy to give a hand both on the creative/brainstorming side and the more practical make-it-happen side.

Other bits and bobs
- I’m a machine learning/software engineer, so happy to help out on that front if you need some help, or if you just want to learn some new things!
- I have some basic sewing skills (I can use a sewing machine and follow a clothesmaking pattern), in case that was useful
