Description

My name is Johannes and I am a 26-year-old anthropology student who is soon heading to Romania to explore the beautiful country and continue my journey of learning the Romanian language. I would say that I'm a a calm, curious, and sociable person, and I enjoy spending time both on my own and with others.

Through Workaway, I hope to gain a better understanding of what it means to work with nature’s resources and to learn from other people’s skills, knowledge and passions. Secondly, I want to keep exploring how daily life unfolds in parts of the world far from my own—that, to me, is what traveling is all about!

Even though I am often burried in books, I also enjoy physical hands-on work. I have worked in the restaurant industry for a couple of years - which also means I know my way around in the kitchen. I am generally a quick learner and I am always up for trying new things.

When not studying or working, I enjoy experimenting with fermentation or other kitchen projects, hiking and foraging for mushrooms. These days, I’m also spending a great deal of time improving my far-from-perfect Romanian, but above all, I value spending time with my friends, family and my girlfriend!

As I am going to conduct fieldwork for my master's thesis in Romania, my goal is to learn Romanian during the next half a year. I have already taken language classes for a while but I'm sure that a workaway stay is what i need to learn it even quicker!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have experience in a variety of fields, having worked as a substitute teacher, kitchen helper, apple-picker and more recently as an ethnographer and analyst. This range of roles has made my skills quite versatile. I also enjoy working with wood, although I have never done it professionally :)
