Hello!
I am Martina, I'm 24 years old and I'm Italian, from South Italy, so I'm totally Mediterranean! I'm living a specific moment of my life where I feel completely connected to my sourroundings and my roots, learning the traditions of my people and falling in love again and again with the nature around me. But the deeper I go in this, the stronger is the the urge to travel, to hear stories from people, to try new dishes, to learn new skills, new words, new languages. I want to create portals and take pieces of the world with me, to change perspective and grow.

I live in the countryside, I always had cats and my father had a workshop, so I'm used to hand-work. I have experience in the countryside with grape harvesting and cherry picking, which has taught me the value of hard work in any meteorological condition (really). I also worked in reception, as a waitress and as a teacher and this helped me to improve my communication and the ability to work under pressure. I always try to challenge myself to get out from my comfort zone, and work is a good helper!

Traveling is one of my greatest passions, with photography. I’ve visited Colombia, Tunisia, Palestine, and some European countries, and I’ve also lived for a while in Spain. These experiences taught me to appreciate cultural differences and to deconstruct stereotypes and I'm sure that Workaway might be a good channel to live in authentical environments where I can learn, change and grow.

I enjoy cooking for the others, sharing Italian receipts or learn new dishes and new way of cooking. Recently I started a ceramics course and I enjoyed it a lot because it helps me to slow down and be present. I also like drawing and painting, and I’m curious to learn how to make jewelry from natural raw materials and to work with wood. I’m trying to make solid natural shampoo too! I also enjoy learning traditional dances and moving my body, it helps me to open up and feel confident.

I’m an easygoing and respectful person, and I adapt well to new environments. It's important to me to learn from others, whether it’s about their culture, skills, or way of life. I always think that when two worlds collide, a new one is born, with stronger roots and new ideas.

I guess this might be enough for now. Maybe we will have the chance to meet and to get to know each other with a cup of coffee somewhere in the world. Anyways we will be on the right path with the right people!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My mothertongue is Italian, but I also speak English. I'm studying Arabic and Swahili but I understand a bit of French and Spanish.

I love writing, if it can be helpful.

I worked for a vet and I helped her with a lot of dogs and cats. I also worked in a summer camp and I had a lot of fun with children. I have an experience as waitress. Then I also had a teaching job: I helped a boy with Latin lessons (I went to liceo classico, I studied Greek and Latin).

I love gardening, and I can also repair things. I don't have certified skills but I learn fast and I can be very pragmatic.

I can also cook! I always cook for me, my family and my friends.

I love trying new things and new skills.
