My name is Natalie- I’m passionate about permaculture, sustainability, cultural exchange, learning how to live with the land, and I’m excited to learn more about your projects! After quitting my corporate job in January 2024, I’ve been genuinely enjoying getting my hands in the dirt and living more in touch with nature and my body, and discovering all that it can do. I really enjoy living slowly, intentionally, and with respect for life around me. I dream of starting my own permaculture homestead someday, and am eager to soak up all that you can teach me! While I travel using Workaway, I love having a variety of things to do during the week, and am most excited about building, animal care, and gardening tasks. I love kids, but I'm not interested in childcare volunteer work.
I've volunteered at 9 Workaway projects so far around the world. I volunteered at an eco-farm/art community in Arizona (2020) making bricks for an adobe bathhouse, then spent two months in the U.S. Virgin Islands gardening, painting, cooking, marketing, beekeeping, and other side projects (2020 and again in 2024). In summer 2024, I spent about a month each at 4 workaways in the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, and Scotland where I did gardening, landscaping, wood chopping, duck care, cooking for groups, preparing harvests/food for storage, cleaning, light building projects, sewing and more. In Scotland, I lived mostly off-grid and became comfortable with wood-burning stoves for heat and composting toilets. I'm happy to disconnect from media and live without wifi/electronics.
In Nov ‘24-Jan ‘25, I volunteered at 3 workaways in Australia: a hobby horse/animal rescue farm, permaculture community garden, and rural eco-homestead. Mostly working in the gardens, I also helped with animal care, catering for events, building fences, and more. I love baking, cooking, arts/crafts, learning new things, and getting to know the plants and animals around me.Centres d’intérêt

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I worked on a restoration project in St. Croix, USVI where I did a variety of tasks: gardening, painting, spackling, hotel room cleaning, sewing, cooking, and marketing. I’ve hauled 80lb/36kg bags of concrete, and while it was challenging, I’m able to help with some heavy lifting as needed. I also worked on an earth building project in Arizona making cob bricks—I’d love to learn more about eco building. I have experience caring for vegetable gardens, I've been learning about permaculture gardening principles and would love to keep learning and applying those skills. I've been trusted to house-sit via Workaway and can provide references if needed. My handyperson skills are limited but I'm genuinely interested in learning more.
I love the feeling of a job well done and truly look forward to helping you with your projects. With some patience and willingness to fill in the gaps when I don’t know how to do something, we’ll make a great team!
I have a degree in marketing and entrepreneurship and experience in social media marketing, content writing, and some graphic design, so I could help with any small business/marketing needs. I prefer to have varied tasks and to also work with my hands, so ideally I don’t spend more than half my hours on marketing related projects.Âge

I love exploring the outdoors and would love any local recommendations! I love playing music (clarinet mostly), would love to learn violin and trombone, & would also welcome a guitar or piano lesson (or any other instrument you have laying around!). I crochet, sew, and embroider, and would be happy to teach. I’m hoping to learn about weaving, spinning yarn, and natural dyes some day. I also read a lot and love to chat about books, especially optimistic sci-fi (my favorite author is Becky Chambers, look her up!). I love getting to know people and chatting, but my introversion means I often need time for solo rest. I’ve lived with large groups and alone, I’m very flexible.

Nope! I’ve happily eaten completely vegan food for months, but also enjoy eating meat, cheese, and eggs. I’m not picky!
