Hi! My name is Oscar and I'm a 3rd year language student at university in the UK currently on a year abroad. Having done a semester studying in Germany, I'd like to help out in my final semester by doing voluntary work; I believe volunteering in South America would combine my interest in travelling and learning new cultures with my desire to help out the community and further develop my Spanish language skills in the process! Aside from learning languages, I enjoy music and playing various sports like tennis!

I have a passion for learning languages, and as such they form the main part of my degree at university. I have previously studied Spanish, French, German, Catalan, and (simplified) Chinese to varying levels, and whenever I visit a new country whose language I am not familiar with, I really enjoy taking time to understand basic phrases. I find that being able to communicate with those who do not speak one's native language (in my case, English) is a liberating and thoroughly enjoyable experience, and it is a personal honour to have the opportunity to teach people and help them overcome their language barriers.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
At university, I've studied Spanish, French, German, and Catalan; my Spanish skills are between C1 and C2 and my French and German skills are around B2. I've tutored various people in Spanish, and informally in English and music, and I have previously helped run a children's holiday camp. I've been part of numerous musical ensembles and group projects and am therefore comfortable and happy with working as part of a team. I'm an adaptable and determined person, and enjoy taking on challenges; for example, climbing Kilimanjaro and cycling the length of the United Kingdom, both of which I've done with my family in the last few years!

My personal hobbies include music (often classical), and various sports, but I really enjoy trying new things as well! I'm looking forward to meeting new friends whilst volunteering in South America, practising languages with them and learning more about their culture and experiences!
