  • Descrição

    Descrição

We’re a busy family of three, and live on a 5 acre hobby farm with a hazelnut orchard, gardens and pond. Salt Spring Island is a special place, rural and rustic, and full of creative, eccentric, land loving people. We’re down the road from Ruckle Park, one of the most beautiful oceanside parks in the world. Come experience the rainforests of the West Coast, there’s nowhere else like it.

There’s the famous farmers market, beach walks, or community events like live music nights or craft fairs. Our island has a vibrant, creative community, and we’re happy to introduce you to neighbors, local artists, or folks at the Saturday Market. If you’re interested, you’re also welcome to join us in shared projects around the property—gardening, cooking, or DIY building—which often turn into great hangout time. Salt Spring has a way of making people feel at home, and we’ll do our best to help you feel part of that.

We enjoy sharing hands-on skills and local knowledge with our Workawayers. Depending on the season and your interests, that might include organic gardening, home repairs, light construction, preserving food, cooking with local ingredients, or basic homesteading know-how.

Hosting Workawayers gives us a chance to see things from a new perspective—whether that’s how you cook a favorite dish, approach a task differently, or share stories about your community back home. We’d love to exchange ideas, values, and experiences. Our lives are richer when we learn from each other.

We’re looking for help around the home and farm, from organizing and home projects to gardening and maintenance help. We’re not a commercial farm, we grow for our own consumption. Light meal prep, dishes and tidying to help to keep on top of things as needed. We’re also looking for a tutor or mentor for our son, someone to engage in activities, explore his artistic side, his love of physical activity and also gaming.

There is always something to learn on the farm, you will have many opportunities to learn new skills.

    Algo mais...

We’re in the South End of the Island, so you will need to hitchhike (legal and encouraged), there are a few buses, and we have a bike you could use. There’s a small store and cafe in Fulford Harbour about 6km away, Ruckle Park is 5km and the main town ofGanges is 13km. We also drive into town regularly. No smoking inside, no partying, this is a quiet location.
