… read more family, who are all also very lovely people. Alison is a very good cook! I'll also miss the company of Ruby, the 14 year-old but fit labradoodle. The house is quite near Auckland center, so I'd recommend it to everyone who wants to discover the city.
Ginevra and I spent a fantastic week at Alison and Steve's house. Life in Meadowbank is extremely peaceful and relaxing despite its proximity to the centre. Alison and Steve were our first experience with workaway and it was a pleasure to stay with them. They gave us all the instructions needed to do the tasks and helped us with paperwork. Our missions during the week were gardening, cleaning, painting and taking care of lovely Ruby. Thank you for your help in our arrival in NZ !

I really enjoyed my stay with Alison and Steve even though it was short. it was so nice of them to take me in when my previous host realized they couldn't afford to host me anymore with only 24 hours notice.

We had a really great stay at Alison and Steve’s house. They are really lovely people, easy communication. They helped us when we needed help to set up a bank account and anytime they could. … read more something vegetarian for us. The job mainly consisted of doing a spring clean of the house and doing some sanding on doors and windows. We also took care of Ruby, their adorable dog, when they were away. We enjoyed dinner time, sharing meals together and talking about anything.
That was our first Workway experience and it was definitely a great start !
We’ve spent a great two weeks with them and we would recommend this Workaway to anyone.
Jessie and Mathilde were great workawayers, they were diligent, polite and good communicators. They assisted us with doing a spring clean and were excellent at this with great attention to detail. We enjoyed having Jessie and Mathilde to stay with us and would highly recommend them to other hosts.

I stayed 5 days at Alison's and it was the perfect mission for me. I had to take care of the two dogs while they were gone do some gardening and cleaning.
The communication with Alison was easy, very clear and she was always super responsive.

Allison's food was amazing, she really fed us very well and we always had food to eat whenever we wanted to. Dinners were busy, we were 7 people at the table, so conversations were very varied, we got to know both the family and the other workawayers couple, and they recommended us where to travel in New Zealand. We also played the board game Sequence and it was so much fun.

I had a nice stay at Alison, Steve & Tom's place in November 2022. There was an Italian workaway couple in the meantime at their place too which was nice because I didn't have to work alone. We stayed with Alison, Steve and their son Tom (22) for about three weeks, after they kindly "saved" us from an unlucky situation.
Their home is situated very central (about 30 min by bus to downtown Auckland) and yet it is a very safe and quiet neighborhood.
During the day Alison and Steve worked a lot, while we were doing our gardening and
… read more cleaning jobs for them and in the evening we had dinner together, which always tasted fantastic! Alison even prepared lunch for us before she went to work.
Once they also took us to a very cool art event in town. That was great! We're also very greatful that they told us about Waiheke Island, where we then spent a weekend. We would never have gone there without their suggestion and it was absolutely amazing!
The last week of our stay we took care of their house and loveley dog Ruby, while they were away. Harvey, their friends dog, spent a lot of time with us too and we went on some nice walks with the dogs.

I couldn't have gotten off to a better start in New Zealand.

For the first two weeks, we were a team of three Workaways with Jasmine and Frank, a young couple from Germany, who were very nice and with whom I shared good times, especially when we went to walk Ruby, the lovely dog of the family.
Alison took the time in the morning before leaving for work to make us lunch and made sure we never ran out of anything.
I had the joy and good fortune to be invited to share Christmas Day with the family. It was a strange but pleasant feeling for me to spend this event for the first time under the sun by a pool.
Finally, I thank Tomos, their son, for lending me his car for a few days, it was great to go and discover, among other things, the beach of Piha. (Inaccessible by bus)
