It was a pleasure to have Frances in our home, she fitted into our lifestyle and we felt confident in leaving her to carry on with all the tasks we had given her. Unfortunately it was extremely hot when Frances was here but she arranged her own work scheduled to fit in with the heat. As well as helping with the weeding and cleaning around the
… read more patio, Frances was also a great help with my elderly mother. She was also loved by the dogs and cats and especially Betty.
I would recommend Frances to help in any situation but especially helping with animals and older people.

Staying with Vera and Barry was awesome. You will have your own room with an ensuite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the beautiful countryside. Vera gives clear instructions on what needs to be done. Riding on her quad was one of the highlights. Kepal, Betty and Cas are amazing dogs. So loving. Vera included me in her activities; drinks with

Working at/around the house of Vera and Barry was an absolute pleasure! I stayed for about 3 weeks and there was great communication back and forth. The work was fitting and would differ almost daily, which I enjoyed very much - anything from weeding, olive/almond picking, painting to cleaning the windows 😅

… read more never hungry with her DELICIOUS cooking (seriously, it's out of this world!) and you are left to do the task at your own pace.
They respect private time but also invite you to take part in local activities, whether it's football, intercambio (really nice people there) or going out to a restaurant etc.
The surroundings are absolutely breathtaking and the steep slopes are perfect for a run and then a dip in the pool.

Ole was an excellent workaway and carried out all the tasks delegated to him. He is hard working, reliable, trustworthy and has a pleasant personality. He integrated very well in our family and with our friends. I would recommend Ole as he is hard working and willing to help with a variety of tasks both in and outside the home.

I spent a month at the family villa near Riogordo. There was a good mix of work covering deep weeding, olive collection and olive tree pruning. Most of the time I was accompanied by their four dogs and two cats that were always curious about what I was doing. They also took me out for a few cultural events and meals and introduced me to some of
… read more their friends, as they believe that integration with spanish culture is something all Brits should be trying their hardest to do and they have set a good example to follow.
The location is stunning, with a huge mountain at the back of the house and pleasant rolling hills in the front, and I never got tired of just sitting on the balcony of the house once work was done looking at the scenery while the sun was shining - even though it was only February!
At nights it did get cold and I greatly appreciated the big log burning stove which warmed up the room beautifully and which Barry kept a close eye on while making many wisecracks about what was being said on the tv.
The highlight for me was the evening meal, where Vera would pull out all the stops to make sure we had a hearty and tasty different dish each night. Yum yum! She also baked a different cake each week and I looked forward to a slice at my morning tea break each day.
It was the perfect balance between experiencing the great outdoors and having the comfort of great home amenities. Couldn't have asked for a better Workaway experience.Fotos

We spent two weeks with Vera and family working in her yard. We painted a balustrade around the pool and did some weedings in her garden. The work was 5 hours per day/5 days week. They were very flexible with our schedule time and days off.

… read more great view. It was a pity that along the way Barry (husband’s Vera) started treat us as strangers in the house and we got a little uncomfortable. Fortunately Vera always was very kind with us trying to make us feeling well and helping us to our daily tasks in the job.
Riogordo is a small village with restaurants, supermarkets, buses to Málaga and everything that we needed. The house is located around 3 km uphill from the village. They always offered help with transportation for the village (even offered their quad) and got us ride for Malaga to take our bus. Besides, they invited us to join in their Spanish lessons and to gather with their friends.

I would recommend Edu and Jaqui as they were reliable, trustworthy and could be left to get on with the tasks allocated to them. They painted around the pool and helped with weeding in the garden. They fitted in well with our lifestyle, accepting the dogs and helped with my mother when required.

Eirik's use of the English language is excellent and was very good helping my Spanish friends children with their English at our intercambio group.

I had a great time staying with Barry and Vera at their beautiful house up in the mountains near Riogordo.
I either worked in their garden or (due to the rain we had for a week) in their house, painting a big room. The work is very good and not too hard, but the garden work involves working on a steep slope.

… read more tea and had a nice conversation and after work I could always go with them when they were driving to Riogordo for example.
They always took me to the nearest bus station to go to Málaga and picked me up. Furthermore they took me to many great places to visit and let me join them when they met their friends where I could also improve my Spanish a little.

Mylene fitted in very well and soon become one of the family. She helped with the garden and helped with the foster puppies. She also completed some work for us on the computer when the weather was unsuitable to work outside. Mylene was very flexible and would be will for her to return any time.

I only stayed with Vera, Barry and Blanche for a couple days but they welcomed me into their home as if I was family. I harvested carobs and almonds and painted the garage during my stay which was enjoyable with Cass and Ben and their amazing view. … read more for the first time. Vera is a wonderful cook and their house is beautiful. I actually got a lot more than I bargained for as they taught me a lot about the culture and history of the area.
