We are two friends and we worked for Clary for one week. Her garden is beautiful, and the work mainly consists of trimming hedges, removing weeds, and keeping the area clean. Overall, it’s manageable and enjoyable.
However, it’s important to know that living with Clary means fully adapting to her routines. It’s not possible to use the kitchen
… read more independently in any way, nor even leave something as simple as a beer or a yogurt in the fridge. She doesn’t allow workawayers to have keys, so you can’t access the house on your own in the afternoon, evening, or if you go out during the weekend. Curfew is at 11 PM (sometimes even 10:30 PM).
The house is in a very isolated area. The “village” consists of a gas station, a pharmacy, a small supermarket, and two (empty) pubs. If you don’t have a car, the only way to get around is by bus—buses with unpredictable and often unreliable schedules, and the last one usually runs around 9 PM.
Even if you stay home in the evening, spending time in the living room or on the terrace, when Clary decides to go to bed, you have to do the same. She sets the alarm system and, once it’s activated, you must remain in the attic (where the workawayers' room is). You can’t go down to the kitchen to get water or anything else you might need, nor can you go out in the garden until she deactivates the alarm—normally around 8 AM.
Additionally, the room was very dirty. When we arrived, there were two fingers of dust on all surfaces, and dead insects both on the floor and, unfortunately, under the bottom bed sheet.
In this situation, we needed to do laundry with the sheets: Clary only allows one at the end of the week (in our case, split into two) so, in order to sleep on clean sheets, I had to argue with her until she finally allowed me to wash them.

I stayed with Clary for almost 2 weeks and I enjoyed it! My work included weeding for about 4 hours a day in Clary's garden, which is really beautiful. It's great if you love nature (also the awesome Greenway is right behind her house)! Clary taught me a lot about the area, as well as about Europe in general, and best of all, she cooked absolutely

My friend and I spent a wonderful month with Clary! The garden is just amazing, we loved spending time there, it's very relaxing.
