What drives me is human connection. Its being of service to others. I see that there are so many people in need for different type of things. If we can offer things that offer great human interaction and experience then I think we are on a right path. Giving and sharing is such a good feeling. I enjoy topics that cover spiritual growth. In this way I am able to express myself as authentic as possible. I also love animals and nature so much that it brings me one of the highest forms of joy and peace.

I have a very divere experience, which means I can do many things.

I come from a farmers family who used to raise cows, pigs, harvested grain, lumber, grew potatoes, vegetables. Used to drive a tractor.

I,ve done some general construction work, worked in tree nursery, as manufactur worker (furniture, ice cream).

I have worked for government in defence sector as desk officer.

I have also had some eperience in tourism/hospitality industry. First I started in guest house as waiter/bartender/asistant, then I tried out working on a European river cruise ship.

I have experience working with customers - as salesperson-consultant in shop that sold sportswear, as parking inspector, as bolt safety agent (office in Lisbon).

I have participated in voluntary work - organizing events for Romanian youth.

I have also worked in self-development/spiritual growth industry with my ex-partner. Assisting in group meditation events, leading Facebook meditation morning groups, contributing in creating courses, coaching people. Creating online and on site events. Making facebook ads and do sales calls.

I have also worked as bycicle courier (engaging with clients, planing routes).

As you can see, I can do physical work and I can also do work that requires conctact with customers.

I really love hiking, enjoying swim. I have interests in various spiritual themes - such as Divine masculinity/femininity (polarity), I am interested in learning more about self-reliant living. I enjoy taking care of animals (feeding them, playing with them and other stuff). One of my interest is also to travel, to see different places, cultures. I enjoy deep conversations. Sometimes I am inspired to dance and sing a little.

Before I arrived, Mathis and I had several chat exchanges and a video call. We agreed that I would primarily help with eFoil activities and assist with the bar/hotel when needed. However, once I arrived, it became clear that the actual situation was far more chaotic than expected. The environment was extremely stressful, with no clear structure or… read more management. The season was just beginning, and instead of having prepared in advance, the team seemed to be launching everything at once in a rush, leading to disorganization and last-minute scrambles. I was told things would settle into a more relaxed vibe later on, but unfortunately, I never got to experience that.

Another workawayer and I were asked to work on content creation and social media to promote the kite school. None of this was communicated before our arrival. I don’t know whether this was an oversight or intentional. Regardless, I explained to Mathis that I don’t have a background in marketing or content creation, and these tasks would require time to learn and deliver effectively. The idea was that we could work on these tasks during our free time, but in reality, there were always other things needing attention. There was no clear role distribution or plan, which made it difficult to know where to focus. If you’re someone who needs stability, a routine, or predictable hours, this environment likely won’t suit you. The schedule is weather-dependent and client-driven.

The biggest challenge by far was the communication—or lack thereof. When I asked clarifying questions to better understand tasks or expectations, Mathis often responded with frustration, saying I was creating more work for him and increasing his stress. I found this unreasonable. Clear communication is essential for good results, especially in a fast-paced environment. At one point, he referenced a past volunteer who did a task without direction and was later dismissed because the result didn’t match his expectations. It’s unfair to expect volunteers to take initiative without guidance and then criticize them when the outcome isn’t aligned with your (unstated) vision. Mathis asked me to help define his business strategy and direction, despite me just arriving and not knowing the history or structure of the place. It revealed a serious lack of leadership and vision on his part.

There were at least two days when Mathis simply didn’t respond to any of my messages. Then he later complained that I hadn’t done my job. On one such day, I offered help to his wife and others at the hotel, and they all said there was nothing I could do. I used the time to work on the computer, exploring improvements for the booking system—one of the tasks assigned to me. Yet later I was criticized for not helping. This kind of contradictory behavior—telling me not to ask, just to act, then faulting me for not helping after I was told there was nothing to do—was incredibly frustrating. It felt like a lack of personal accountability on his part.

In Mathis's view, I was a lazy workawayer lacking initiative. In reality, I tried to focus on what would have the most meaningful impact at the time. Unfortunately, because of communication issues and unclear expectations, this effort wasn’t recognized. I offered suggestions, but they were never seriously considered. My skills weren’t effectively utilized, and it became clear that this arrangement just wasn’t going to work out.

I stayed at Willy's house for around 3 weeks. His hospitality and open heart were on another level. A very kind man. It was always easy to work with him. The area is amazing for hiking and cycling.
