Hi Workaway Hosts! My name is Alex Selby and I am a 28 year old Irish, currently backpacking and exploring new places

I am passionate about cooking, foraging, fermenting, pickling, preserving, and all things food. I love learning about new food cultures. On top of that, I love hiking and any sport or activity.

I am an avid snowboarder, and I have my PADI Open Water for Scuba Diving.

I really enjoy being surrounded by nature and feeling a deep connection to the place.

I have a deep interest in the relationship between mythology, nature, and what lies beneath us.

I have experience in hospitality, ski technician, teaching, and anything tech-based. I have worked in bars, restaurants and hotels for 6 years, teaching conversational English online for 1 year and working in a tech environment for 5 years.

I'm on Workaway to volunteer, meet new friends, learn about new cultures, pick up some new passion projects and share some of my own knowledge :)

Quais são suas habilidades?

I have worked in hospitality for 6 years in hotels, bars, and restaurants and I love providing professional service whilst also having some fun!

With a TEFL Certification, I have thought conversational English online for over a year.

I have 2 degrees in Commerce and Software Development with over 6 years experience, so I have a good mindset for business. So I can definitely share my skills with you here.

Also, I love creating on all walks of life, be it videos, crocheting, or external projects. Lately, I've been channeling my energy into a garden project, crafting a sanctuary for buzzing bees, fluttering butterflies, and chirping birds.

I am not a chef but I have a big passion for all things food - cooking, foraging, fermenting, pickling, preserving, and of course, eating :)
