Hello! My name is Ashlin, I'm 25 years old and from California, USA. I grew up in an off-grid house in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains, so I am no stranger to the outdoors, rural living, or hard work. From a young age I've had a deep desire to see the world and understand different ways of life around our beautiful planet, and now as an adult with the capabilities to see it, I am seeking out the opportunities that allow me to travel, work, and learn. In high school, I had a life changing experience as a short term exchange student in Australia. After graduating, I spent a year living abroad in Germany as an Au Pair and had an excellent experience with a wonderful family who I still keep in touch with today. More recently I lived in coastal Scotland, helping an amazing woman I met run her small flower shop. All these adventures have shaped who I am today, but I feel like I have only scratched the surface of all I can see in the world and who I can become. Workaway was recommended to me at a recent stay at a youth hostel where I met many amazing volunteers who encouraged me to make a profile and fulfil my dreams. I am hard working, a quick learner, appreciate being challenged, and am open to and excited about meeting welcoming friendly people through a workaway experience!

Although only fluent in one, I am always happy and willing to learn a new language! It is a life ambition of mine to learn many languages. Previously as an Au Pair, part of my job was to help the young German kids I was helping take care of practice their English. I have no other experience teaching English beyond that, but I do not mind challenging myself to learn new skills in a situation where it's needed.

- Maintenance skills (can run a chainsaw, weed whacker, wood chipper, mower. Can help repair, dig, construct, etc.)
- Several years of child care experience (ranging from ages 2 months to 12 years old)
- Customer service skills

Growing up in the mountains, the outdoors are my happy place. Hiking is one of my favorite activities, or just walking anywhere in nature, really. I also love swimming, archery, fishing, card games, baking, video editing, gardening, and embroidery. Although I have little experience actually caring for them, I really love horses and am very interested in learning more about equestrian care.
