Description
I am Marilyne and I have two boys, Loup is 10 and Morel is 5. I speak french as my mother tongue but we speak english at home. I have dogs and and cat.
We live in the forest up a mountain on a land COOP that we share with 6 other people. We also have a family of 5 living down the hill from us now (we met through workaway!).
It is a very quiet place and we are surrounded by beautiful wild nature. The house is off grid and on solar energy. I am interested in applying permaculture principles to my DYI projects.
I am looking to find helpers and new friends that can assist us with refining our home and our life so it is more fun, comfortable and convenient for everyone visiting. It's rustic living up here, although I do have running water and electricity, internet. I also want people to share space to learn from them. It is my way of traveling the world at this point, have visitors from different places come visit us.
I do love the simplicity of not having busy distractions around me. I do love being alone up here in the mountains. And I would prefer having independent humans coming here. My children are in constant need of my support and attention and anyone visiting here would benefit to us since what I can give is limited.
I do have access to a lot of land and dreams to share that I would like to share with people alike.
I see some kind of retreat forming from this land. I feel the need to be surrounded by people that are wanting to get somewhat away from the busy world to learn about them self and learn about other ways of living on our beautiful planet. I also want people to share space to learn from them. It is my way of traveling the world at this point, have visitors from different places come visit us.
I want help creating this retreat, setting up teepees, building tiny homes, building outdoor kitchen, create ceremonies space.
I have gathered lots of wood working tools. I like to build things from scratch (cut the tree down and peel it to build an outhouse for example). It all takes time, but is so rewarding especially when we work together as a team. I also have access to a tractor and a quad, pick up truck, wood mill.
Come meet us if you want to learn about off grid mountain living and building and fixing things at low cost. There is lots of room to camp on the land and long term can be a possibility. I am welling to share my house and food. There is internet.
Living off grid is fun and requires a lot of smart thinking on what the next step is going to be. I would love to have more people to share this beautiful way of living on the land. I also simply can't do it on my own very well. ahaha! Together we are stronger

This is very unique place to live. It is rustic, quiet and with nature all around. Anyone living here will learn much about DYI projects, wild crafting, food preparation (fermenting veggies, bread making, fermented drinks). This is a great opportunity to learn how to steward the land while applying permaculture principles. It is a great place for personal growth as this is my main priority in life.
There is lots to learn about forestry, gardening. I am also very active my in self care and spiritual growth. I attend sweat lodges monthly and different types of ceremonies also. The workaway can possibly come along if the interest is there.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
I am finishing building a root cellar and roofs and would love some help with that.
I started tanning hides and have a bunch waiting to be worked on.
My children are homeschool and we like having new people to hang out with and learn from.
I am also renovating my house, doing the window sills.
I have a quad that needs love.
ETC
I am very flexible about what the helper does here. I want everyone to feel inspired and choose their own projects because they want to learn more about it or are simply talented and willing. There is so many to choose from....
I also know my small community very well and if the work away needs to make money, I could find them jobs here and there...Languages

I have a big massive tent set up this summer for anyone interested
I have an outdoor oven to cook on or use the house kitchen as well as an outside bath set up.
Long term living situation is a possibility for the right people.
It sometimes happens that I need a house sitter for a few days and could have the house to yourself also. What else ...
I live in a small rural community with very alternative people. There is a couple restaurants and stores. The Slocan river is beautiful and you can swim (people like to float it with little boats). We like to go to Slocan lake, 20 minutes north of Winlaw. There are lots to do here so if you have any questions about the place just message me and I can guide you with information. Nelson and Castlegar town are both 40 minutes away.
My house is way up the road from town (about 10 minutes going up). Biking down is easy but coming up is a chore so driving is home is the best way! I can always pick you up from town. I have bikes and a car I don't mind lending to good drivers. We have buses that go to Nelson, Castlegar and Slocan from Winlaw. People hitch hike a lot around here.... We live in a great community come check it out!!A little more information
