I really enjoyed my week-long break in nature, which I needed after my stay in the city, with Matthew. His soups or fruit cakes are spectacular. So are the views on a clear day of the Picos de Europa.
We balanced our time depending on what we felt like doing at the moment. Both of us could either enjoy our time to ourselves or we went on little
… read more excursions together. Like visiting the Festivalín with its modern-traditional asturian music, which I absolutely loved. It's a way to really immerse yourself in a new culture. Thank you for taking me with you. Both for questions about birds, drilling holes in stones or stacking, Matthew is the man to talk to. :D Thank you for open communication, respectful interaction and pure cultural exchange at all times. Vanessa came alone after a bad experience volunteering in a backpackers hostal in Santander. Her timing couldn’t have been better.
Vanessa was great company, She is a bright and charming young woman who brought good “wibes” to the place. She was very helpful, completing the tasks (mainly tidying up and weeding in the Huerta) with no complaints

As a host, Matthew is gentle, welcoming, attentive while also giving his guests enough personal space. A well-managed balance that’s easier said than done, if you ask me. Communicative and genuine, he is generous to share his great insights and observations in cultures and arts. Conversations with him are stimulating as well as inspiring. It has

Ginger stayed for three weeks and was a great asset. She enjoyed cooking tasty, healthy meals and helped me to build a Pergola, peeling the bark from the wood and treating it. She is very practical and was a great help. We also shared interesting conversations about language, art and poetry and went on some cultural excursions which we both

Yas was a positive presence. Very clear and communicative when it mattered. She was fun and interesting to be around and helped walking the dog, cooking (a great vegan chocolate cake! etc.), weeding and cleaning. A thoughtful and considerate person with whom we shared food and excursions. It was great to meet you and who knows, maybe we will cross

My stay with Matthew in Asturias was perfect. The stunning place in the mountains was a dream come true, I left the place with my heart fulfilled with beauty and presence.
Matthew is an easygoing, kind and friendly being, who invited me for a visit and to help a little bit around the house but mostly it was a good time to rest this body after an

Slow mornings shared with a long breakfast, later a bit of work cutting the grass, walking and playing with the dog, taking care of the garden, cooking, and enjoying the company by discovering amazing beaches along the coast, taking a cold dip in the river or hiking in the mountains. Also we spent good times by the fire playing games.
What I appreciate the most is understanding that even if we come from different cultures, we can always do our best to understand each others, share different view points and life experiences. A new friend that I'm hoping we will cross our paths again soon :-)Feedback
