I really enjoyed hosting Jerome Dylan and Sean. I enjoyed their company and playing games and finding out about life in Western Australia. They were strong and skilled in the tasks that I gave them.
Valuable help. The three of them were obviously well raised and responsible young men. Even left us a Thank-you card. Nice touch. I thankyou all and

Nicki and her family showed us great hospitality. She managed to feed 3 of us (who eat a lot) with great food, had great chats and played fun games. She is very knowledgeable of New Zealand and we learnt a lot on our week with her. Her son was super friendly with great energy and good for a laugh. They made us feel at home, took us for kayaks and

Had a great stay with Nicki in Te Oka Bay. From traveling a lot before it was nice to settle down in a amazing place like Te Oka. Nicki, her son with his family and the dogs just made it feel like home straight away. I enjoyed one month making good friends with them, enjoying the rural lifestyle. I loved to have a spa underneath the stars, going

It's a big project going on and I am happy that I've helped a bit to make it happen. As it is a huge property as well there is a lot of gardening to do. I spent my time on chainsaws, axes, clippers, hedgetrimmers, the lawnmower and lots more. They treat your very good & fair and expect the same from you.
It's great to just be out of all the rush going on in the world, enjoying the slow life, playing chess together with Nicki, listening to music or just read a book in front of the fire. Had really good conversations and definitely enjoyed the good food provided.
If you getting a bit lonely or tired it's also super close to go Christchurch where you can enjoy some culture, concerts, a coffee or even drive to the mountains.
All in all I really loved my experience in Te Oka and highly recommend you to check it out👌You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Amazing time for me in Te Oka. The place itself is just pure New Zealand. You have the sea, the mountains surrounding and the wilderness that makes Te Oka special. As it is quite isolated, you can enjoy the peace of nature and find the joy in the good simple things, but at the same time it is conveniently near from Christchurch.
The time there
… read more was even better because of Nicki, Tom, Simone and the kids. They made me feel part from the things and the projects going on the moment. I felt one more from the beginning and I´m so thankful to them for that. A place can be nice itself, but those personal details makes the difference. I really enjoyed playing with Hazel and Amalie, talking about the life with Tom and Simone and sharing the fire with Nicki. Special mention also for Elvis (the dog), a lovely boy who shared with me some great walks.
In answer for that I mostly did outside tasks related with fire wood, chopping with the axe or chainsawing, gardening or building. They always give me the option to choice what to do or how long to work. I always try to be honest in my help and I really appreciate that honesty back. They also were always ready to teach and helped me doing new things, so I was able to try things that were new for me.
It was definitively the best way to say goodbye to New Zealand :)You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

My stay with Nicki and her family was a dream! Teoka Bay is such a magical spot and the cottage is delightful, it really is the perfect little retreat- I couldn't have asked for more. I feel so lucky to have found this place, if you have the chance to visit and help out.... go! I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Everyone welcomed me with open

Comfy bed, good showers and lots of space / time to chill. Nicki's cooking is amazing and she provided more than enough. She was also kind enough to offer me her place in Christchurch for a few days too; the most amazing home and guided tour experience around town!! We went out for an evening meal with live Jazz to top it all off. I recommend Nicki with my whole heart :) such good memories made. Thank you for everything, hopefully see you and the dogs again soon xxxYour own quiet sleep-out and help with some home projects in Island Bay, Wellington, New Zealand
