Bonne expérience dans la famille.Il a été facile de m’adapter au rythme des enfants. Ils sont très mignons et attachants, curieux et adorent cuisiner. L’environnement est agréable, et j’ai pu effectuer de merveilleuses balades pour découvrir la Suisse.

Spending time with the children has been one of the most beautiful parts of this experience. I was so amazed by their creativity, their limitless imagination and the way they see the world with so much curiosity and enthusiasm. Every day with them was a new adventure, full of laughter, games and moments of mutual learning. Their energy is contagious, and sharing with them has left me with valuable lessons that I will treasure forever.
I am deeply grateful for everything I have experienced during this time with you. I not only take with me beautiful memories, but also the affection and inspiration of a family that shows, with small and big gestures, how important love, patience and dedication in parenting are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me feel part of your home and for allowing me to share such special moments with you.

Where do I start? This is by far one of the best families I have stayed! They are a very loving and warm family of 4, the kids likes to play and paint! It's a good opportunity to discover Switzerland, you will have planty free time to walk around or even travel. They teached me how to skii, and a few places of the country. We went to the Zoo in
… read more Zurich, which felt like home for the weather! Maya and Rolands feels like family after 2 months of staying with them. They are excellent host, always with a smile on their faces. I had the chance to try new dish with them, all of them were delicious! Same as we shared a lot of our culture, especially at dinner.
Monica is the grandma of the kids, she has very good stories to tell about her life in South Africa. She gives good advices about the life in Switzerland, she will show you how Jamie eats his vegetables.
Jamie is the cutest little pie. He tries his best to speak english when I'm with him, he could not pronounce my name and even tho sounded so sweet! he lovess tractors and Ferrari's car! Everyone is a Ferrari fan! He likes to hear stories, or even find himself in his books and imitating the sound of a few animals. He likes to eat carrots and noodles! It's very lovely and funny child<3
Kacey with the K ❤️ I have not words for her. She is the sweety little girl you will meet! She likes to delegate duties when it comes to play with her. She will play a good patient for you to be the Doctor! She is into cooking, 8/10 that I was cooking, she was helping me and giving me tips on how could it be better!
When Jamie and Kacey are together, you will need a lot of energy. Since they like to dance, run or go to the trampoline. They will try to convince you to watch Peppa pig, very clever and smart kids! They don't like to see people using their phones when they are playing with you. I had to put my phone away a few times by Kacey orders.

If you want to discover Switzerland and have a good time, don't hesitate to go to Maya and Roland's! It was my first workaway experience and I have absolutely no regrets.
They're a very welcoming family, and I stayed with them for 1 and a half months. I didn't see the time go by! Roland and Maya made me feel at home, we always ate our meals
… read more together and on Sunday mornings we had croissants (thanks again for this French touch). They are very kind, respectful and interesting people. They shared a lot of their culture with me and always thanked me for my help.
As for the children, these two little blond heads with blue eyes are adorable. Kacey (soon to be 4) is a lively little girl who loves to draw and play outside. She also plays a lot with her little brother Jamie (soon 2). He loves tractors and playing in sandboxes. I've been lucky enough to be able to do things with them like go to the zoo, take boat trips, go to the pool and even do a bit of yoga! They're adorable, energetic kids. It didn't take long to get them to accept me, as they're very sociable.
As I didn't speak Swiss German at all, the children made a lot of effort to speak to me in English, even though they're more at ease in German, and I'm enormously grateful for that. Kacey even chose books in English so that I could understand the story too. The "bonjour" and "bonne nuit" were our little ritual in the morning and evening with the children and I already miss this.
The room I slept in was incredible. It's a spacious place with a bathroom (bath and toilet). I had a lot of privacy and during the hot July days, it was the most pleasant room!
My experience was very rich. I was able to improve my English and learn a few words of Swiss German. The family showed me great places, recommended places to visit on weekends in my free time, and shared Swiss gastronomy with me (incredible by the way). I never felt "employed" but like a big sister in this family. To anyone who might still be hesitating about staying with this family, just go! you'll create good memories.
I absolutely recommend this experience and for future workaways, enjoy!

Mi experiencia con la familia y los niños fue increíble! Son una familia hermosa, les gusta hacer muchas actividades en familia, hicimos muchos paseos juntos y pude conocer diferentes partes de Suiza e incluso Alemania. … read more Zurich...hermoso! Puedes nadar un poco ahí..hacer ejercicio y relajarte. La habitación en la que me hospedaron es súper linda,amplia, con baño completo privado, televisión, un escritorio,etc..en fin...tal cual está en la descripción. La comida..excelente y variada. Y lo más importante, los niños...fue un placer convivir con ellos. Recomiendo esta familia ampliamente a toda la comunidad de workaway...estoy muy agradecida de la suerte que tuve de conocerlos y de que me abrieran las puertas de su hogar y tuvieran toda la confianza en mí para cuidar lo más preciado que tienen, sus hijos. My experience with them was simply wonderful! I had just left my first experience (and not a very good one), when I arrived at their house I was a little apprehensive, but it was better than I could have imagined.
I arrived on a Wednesday night and they received me with a good dinner, we talked a little and went to sleep. The next day I started
… read more helping Maya with the kids. I remember it took Kacey like 3 or 4 days before we became close and she felt comfortable with me. Which for me is totally acceptable, besides being a child it was the first time with an unknown person in the house.
I stayed in a private room with my own bathroom on the first floor of the apartment. Meals were always plentiful, we always had dinner together.
They really know how the workaway exchange works. They respect your free time and at the same time make you feel free to eat, hang around the house or go out and explore Switzerland. They are very polite, they always thank you for your help.
From Monday to Friday we stayed at home and on the weekends we always did different things in places that I still didn't know in Switzerland (Bern, Lucerne, Rapperswil, Schaffhausen...) we visited Maya's family in Emmental or Rolland's family. I spent my birthday with them and I couldn't have felt more special than they made me feel on this day. (Thank you so much for again for this).
I felt welcomed and like part of the family throughout my stay. My experience with them was so good that I decided to stay all my remaining 2 and a half months at their place and I confess that I would have liked to have stayed longer.
Maya is an extremely sweet and calm woman, soft-spoken and treats you with respect. Rolland is the funny one in the family, he likes to make jokes and is very cheerful. They both made me feel comfortable throughout my stay, I felt like I was really at home.
Kacey is just an adorable child, I miss her every day since I left. We were really close. She loves pink and purple, dressing up as a princess, playing with dolls, painting and listening to bedtime stories. I really like to cook and I invited her to cook with me, she loved it and since then we've made some recipes together. When Kacey starts telling you stories in German with her little finger pointing up and looking at you out of the corner of her eye, you'll melt. She is full of energy. The feeling I have when Kacey came back from kindergarten is that the whole environment lit up and filled with light. A sweet, loving and energetic child.
Jamie is the cutest little thing, you'll want to squeeze him all the time. He still doesn't speak in full sentences when I'm with them, but him saying little words is the cutest thing. Likes to see little books. He is passionate about tractors and makes a very cute little noise imitating one of them. A lovely, calm, pleasant child.
Kacey and Jamie love to go play on the playground. You will see that, between the two, Jamie is the calm one and Kacey is more energetic. The most important thing is to know that they are easy and polite children.
Once again, thank you so much for everything. You are in my heart.
Hope to visit them again soon.
Important to know:
Jamie is a happy and calm kid, but he cries insistently from time to time. He is very small, only 1.5 years old, so you need to be patient with children, children cry. Always have his pacifier close by, lots of love and affection and you'll be fine.
