I love love loved my experience at horse stables! I already wish I were still there.... Saita says 3 weeks minimum, but I really think it should be 4. It takes time to get to know the ponies and for them to get to know you. Yes, you must be experienced. The ponies are young and they used to be wild, so their instincts are finely finely tuned! In the beginning, when I was unsure and didn't know what I was doing, they paid no attention to what I wanted and I nearly cried.. But before I left, my wish was their command. Because I really put in time getting to know them. Someone complained that the bedroom was next to the horse stalls. I loved that! I'd go out at night in the cool air, and pet and talk ridiculous things to whichever ponies would be standing at the gate. Also, the treehouse guests were some of the most interesting people I've met and we'd sit around talking for hours. The guests loved the place, too. They'd keep extending and extending their stays. Lots of things to do in the vicinity. I'd go to the waterfalls every day if I could! Saita is great fun to socialize with, and I love her French accent! Ask for Gnern's Lao salad - best in the world!

Had an amazing time with Maria, Tobi and their wonderful family! From the start I felt super welcome and at home there. The surrounding area is beautiful and it fun to go and explore. The work is rewarding and I liked how every day was different. The living space was great, being outside all the time and enjoying the scenery from dusk to dawn. They give you a lot of privacy and space, but also you are welcome to go and hang out with them whenever you want. An amazing experience, truly recommend.

I stayed at Nuri's place for 1 week and had a wonderful time. He sent me very clear intructions on how to get to his house, so that was very helpful. I was here in the beginning of July and our work was pruning the hazelnut trees. A nice peaceful job :) We were 2 voltunteers and shared a bedroom in his house. He cooked us delicious meals and always made sure we had everything we needed. Communication was a bit limited as I don't speak Turkish and Nuri doesn't speak English, luckily there is google translate though ;). But you could defenitely feel he is a very caring person. On our days off we visited Uzungöl and the city of Trabzon. Both easy reachable by bus. I enjoyed the peace and quiet and the amaaaazing views of this beautiful place. Thank you Nuri for having me. I wish you all the best. I would for sure recommand this place if you are looking for a tranquil local experience.

I spent a very peaceful three weeks with Anke and Stefan on their farm last may. From the very first moments, it was evident that they nurture an undying love and appreciation for the numerous workawayers who have passed by their farm and continue to come back. I consider myself very privileged to have also experienced this care and hospitality. Their farm is truly a haven of tranquility and enchantment, surrounded by sereine landscapes of forested rolling hills and blue skies. I cannot recommend future workawayers enough to go explore and immerse themselves in the neighbouring nature that is a real gift to have such an easy access to. They treat the four-legged creatures on the farm as family members and I remain very admirative of the great lengths to which they go to ensure theit well-being and absolute comfort. My stay with them has undoubtedly broadned my perspective on the relationship between humans and horses as well as about the nervous system. Co-existing alongside the softeness and grace of the horses and cats, who each go about with their own quirks and endearing traits, all the whilst sharing joyous moments with Stefan and Anke is bound to be a lovely experience for anyone! All the positive reviews workawayers have left Anke and Stefan over the years have proven themselves to perfectly reflect the realities of a stay with them and how a singular visit to their farm can never be enough!

What a pleasure it was to host this young woman! Tayo really lights up the room with her smile and positivity. The whole house gets a great vibe and so did I. She wouldn’t say no to any job, did everything with a smile, was attentive also after working hours. Maybe not yet with the greatest skills but with a true interest and motivation to do any job well. Ans so she did. We shared some stories and played some games. I don’t think I can match with the lenght of her feedbacks. I can only thank her again for the work she did, and het good vibes! Good luck in all your travels. And feel welcome to come back! Enjoy the world!

My stay in Nieuwlande with Rowita, Marcel, Doria and Arthur was nothing short of a dream. I was welcomed in to their family so graciously and they made me feel so valued and appreciated for the help I was providing. I spent my days weeding, sewing, harvesting, trimming, mowing, painting, cleaning the airbnbs and building new plots for the vegetable garden. I loved it so much it didn't feel like work at all. With its lush gardens, pond, buzzing wildlife and chirping birds, the property is an idyllic place to be and I gained so much mental clarity, fulfilment and confidence from the tasks I was entrusted with. I learnt about the importance of biological farming and sustainability from Rowita and Marcel, and have implemented a lot of their daily practices in my own life already. The family meals we shared everyday were heerlijk!!!! Marcel and Rowita are amazing cooks (and baristas!) and I was so inspired by each and every dish. I miss the smell of fresh granola roasting in the oven of a morning and getting to feast on flavours from India to South Africa. When I wasn't helping in the garden, I spent my time cycling around the village, swimming in the nearby lake, running along the wooded trails and reading in the hammock. The nearest train station is only a 40 minute cycle away or a quick bus trip, so I could easily explore other cities on the weekends. I was lucky enough to join the family on fun outings to festivals, ice cream shops, swimming pools and we even went to Schiermonnikoog for the day! Thank you Rowita and Marcel for hosting me for three months! It really was difficult to leave and I will cherish my time there forever. If you're like me and need a break from city-life or want to learn new skills, this Workaway experience will be truly transformative and inspiring. I recommend staying for a couple of months to see the seasonal transformation of the vegetable garden, from sewing to harvesting - it's super rewarding.

It's was great hosting Guille for almost 2 weeks. He is funny and easy going and a very strong worker. Guille helped a lot cutting old trees and moving them out of the river, also did a lot of digging and moving dirt in the vegetable garden. In addition, Guille is an excellent cook! We hope we get to host him again in the future!

If you are chosen to be part of the Hostel, you should feel very lucky! I had an amazing experience volunteering for a month in June 2025. I felt very welcomed and appreciated there. Marina, Viktor and Dragan are amazing people. Also a big shoutout to my fellow volunteering Nailini who is such a sweetheart. They are very kind and ready to help if you ever need something. I really appreciate the clear communication we had from the beginning and this is something very valuable when it comes to volunteering with workaway. Briefly, I spent beautiful summer days there. The hostel itself is very spacious and clean with a lot of natural light and cute tables to have meals outside — not to mention the hammocks. The backyard is a very relaxing place where I spent most of my afternoons. The work was very simple and straightforward. I knew exactly what I was expected to do and how to do it. I would vacuum and mop the common areas—reception, living room, kitchen and bathrooms — and sometimes change sheets after checkouts. It could take me maximum 2h to finish everything on a busy day. I worked everyday but it's just a little bit each day. It's not a lot. I was able to work remotely and do my tasks at the hostel. If I ever needed two or more free days to visit other cities, it was just a matter of letting Marina or Viktor know in advance. Breakfast was always delicious and I'll miss my morning burek. Thank you/Fala for the great time spent and hope to see everyone again in the future! Felipe

Luna and I had the BEST three weeks here! Colin and Nicky were so very kind and knowledgeable about animal care and gardening. We definitely recommend this farm stay if you're looking for a peaceful escape to the countryside. Be prepared to fall in love with all the animals and give your 100% effort to the daily tasks. We cleaned paddocks, coops, did some weeding, pruning, drained ponds, painted barns, and outdoor sculptures. The meals were delicious, and the conversations we shared over meals were our favorite moments. This was our first Workaway, and they were extremely accommodating and helped us navigate the experience. We are going to miss them immensely and will always remember the time we spent working alongside them at the farm. Lots of Love, Julia and Luna

Fleur is an amazing woman. Warm, welcoming, funny, and empowering. From the first hello she made me feel at home. The house is gorgeous and the massive garden is where I spent a lot of my time; laying in the hammock after work listening to the tranquil sound of birds tweeting. On a few occasions, Fleur was generous enough to allow me to participate in her yoga classes which were relaxing and really helped to loosen my muscles so I could feel a good stretch. The work I was given was always varied and fun. I helped with things such as chiselling away a wall, sanding, and weeding away a tremendously invasive Hop plant. Everyday she would cook a new and delicious meal that we would sit down and share together while enjoying great conversation. Even though on our days off (which could be any day of the week that we desired) she would not cook for us, she always ensured that on the day before, she would cook a massive meal so that there were enough leftovers for the next day. Regularly she would ask if I wanted any groceries and not only would she buy anything and everything that I wanted, but she would also buy treats for me like StroopWaffels!! The surrounding area of the home is gorgeous with countless hike trails to go on and a town centre with many shops and restaurants to keep you occupied and feeling full. I was allowed to borrow her bike which was perfect as I rode around to various surrounding towns, a beach by a natural lake that you can swim in, and of course visited a few windmills. One of Fleurs best recommendations was a nearby buffalo farm where you can get the creamiest and most delicious buffalo milk ice cream around. They have about a dozen different flavours although I would highly recommend the cookie one. Overall, I’d highly recommend staying with Fleur, especially for any females as she has such an empowering, compassionate and motherly vibe. You will not be overworked and she will truly take good care of you during your stay.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Yash for his incredible contributions as a volunteer here. Not only did he lend a helping hand in various tasks, but he also amazed us with his beautiful voice. His singing added a special touch to our community, and his performances were enjoyed by both the guests and the team. Yash has proven himself to be a talented and dedicated individual, and I have no doubt he will continue to be the best volunteer wherever he goes. We are grateful for his time with us and will always welcome him back with open arms. Thank you again, Yash, for your amazing efforts and for bringing so much energy and joy to our hostel! Warm regards, Zuno Founder & CEO

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Bruno, who joined us as a volunteer. Coming all the way from Italy, Bruno became an integral part of our team, handling reception duties with warmth and professionalism. His ability to connect with our guests and create a welcoming atmosphere was truly invaluable. In addition to his role at the front desk, Bruno also took on housekeeping duties, ensuring everything ran smoothly and our guests felt comfortable and cared for. His work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to lend a hand wherever needed made him feel like part of our family. Bruno has left a lasting impact on our hostel, and we will always be grateful for the time he spent with us. He is not just a volunteer but a cherished member of the family, and we would be honored to welcome him back whenever he's in Mysore. Thank you, Bruno, for your hard work, kindness, and the joy you brought! Warm regards, Zuno Founder & CEO

My partner and I stayed a week on Jasmina's farm and it wasn't nearly enough! Jasmina and Nico are wonderful hosts, they are both kind, friendly and very easy to chat to. We spent many nights sitting up late with a cup of tea or Raki chatting away. Not to mention Jasmina's cooking was amazing!! The work was not to demanding, and very flexible. Mostly feeding animals, gardening and light farm work. We miss Bella, Bianca and all the cats very much! Thank you both for an incredible experience and we hope to be back soon!

Ben and I stayed here for the month of June and had a great time. Akshat and Shilpi are lovely and very inspiring. We had a meeting at the beginning of the month to discuss our projects, but day-to-day we were in charge of our own tasks and working with the team on-site. I (Bryony) was in charge of getting the Spa dome up and running. Under the title of 'Health Consultant' I held yoga & meditation classes every morning and also gave massage treatments to clients. I loved the work and was very grateful for the opportunity! Ben was working on graphic design, photography and videography while we were there and made some great projects. He also loved his tasks. We both occasionally lead the guests on the daily nature walks. There were a few miscommunications between the on-site team that occasionally made it a little longer to complete a task, but that was all sorted in good time. The location is absolutely beautiful with the views of the mountain and the valley. It is remote, with a small village and forests nearby, so as long as you're a real nature and peace lover, it will be great. The dogs, Toshi and Kuro, need special mention as they are an utter joy to hang out with, the sweetest boys.

Yi was a fun and interesting person to host! Helpful and sweet, always cheerful and very curious. She helped us sow potatoes, did several garden tasks, cooked food and pickled veggies for us, among other things. She joined us for a visit to several interesting spots and challenged her own comfort zone. She is a well travelled person and continues on a long journey after the time she spent with us. Yi, thank you for your time with us and we wish you the best of luck on your travels! Regards, Editka, Diddi and the boys.

Some people can be described in a few words... David isn't one of those people. He is a remarkable character that defies expectations and stereotypes, like a street trubador with a perfect grasp on quantum mechanics! He's a mild mannered, britishly polite and modest man, with a punk rock way of getting a job done. He also jogs in the chilly icelandic june-air with naught but a t-shirt and shorts... trust me, that's more impressive than it sounds! We spent some good weeks together and he helped us way more than we asked of him. He joined us for couple of beautiful hikes and we had many enlightening conversations about sustainability and recycling - from which he draws vast experience! He also cooks incredibly tasty vegan food, fyi! It was a pleasure to get to know you David, hope we'll meet again another time... Regards, Diddi, Editka and the wild kids.
